Nature and Duration of Contract

– Fixed Term Contract 1 May – 31 November 2014

– 2.5 days per week

The candidate should be available for an interview on the 29th of April 2014 from 11am at Keleketla! Library, The Drill Hall Precinct, Joubert Park.

The Candidate

The candidate should have digital arts interest with an impressive portfolio. Further, the young practitioner should indicate how the internship would advance his/her career and/or interests. They should be a creative self-starter and work systematically because they will work with big volumes of valuable material.

Furthermore, the candidate should possess the following basic skills set:

– Ability and competency in digitizing two and three-dimensional work (including DV tapes, prints of various size, objects and space etc)

– Above average photographic skills (including post-production work using appropriate digital software)

– Good command of post-production software tools for audio, video and the still image

– Innovative and cost effective use of digital resources, including hardware and software

We are looking for an individual who has the ability to work in a team while maintaining a healthy dose of independent thought, initiative and imagination. A key part of the internship is the development of self-driven work by the successful candidate!

The Role – for the organisation

The individual will work closely with the Keleketla! Library members, as well as collaborators. Furthermore, Keleketla will:

– Avail all the archival material for the intern to digitize and use

– Provide background context on archival material to provide a base for the intern to imagine possibilities

– Enable the physical infrastructure to support the development of the intern’s research and creative process

– Explore opportunities for relevant platforms for the work of the intern to gain visibility
